Meeting with the Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of the Argentine Republic in Ukraine
On November 13, 2019, the Faculty of Biology hosted a meeting of the students and the teaching stuff with the Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of the Argentine Republic in Ukraine, Elena Leticia Mikusinski, and Dr. Pablo Goldschmidt, who delivered a lecture “The application of molecular biology to infectious diseases (the detection of bacteria, viruses and free-living amoebas).”
Professor, Dr. Pablo Goldschmidt, Medical Biologist, Doctor of Biological Sciences in Molecular Pharmacology, studied at the Pharmaceutical and Medical Departments of the University of Buenos Aires and later at the Pasteur Institute and trained at the University Hospital in Paris.
He subsequently received two research fellowships at the Curie Institute and the Pasteur Institute in Paris, France. Dr. Goldschmidt has developed several tools for the diagnosis of infectious diseases and is an active participant in the development of new therapies for conventional and non-conventional infectious agents (drugs, fluids and tissues). He is one of the invited experts at the French National Public Health Agency and the World Health Organization. In addition to the diagnostic activities at Quinze-Vingts National Ophthalmology Hospital in Paris, Dr. Goldschmidt is a volunteer at the “Ophtalmo sans frontieres / Ophthalmologists without borders”; among others, he is assisting the Donka Hospital in Conakry, the district hospital in Kolofata, the Extreme North Region of Cameroon, the Grange Hospital in Guinea-Bissau, the Al-Shifa Hospital in Islamabad, and the IOTA in Bamako, and participates in WHO projects to prevent blindness and teaches at numerous universities in Europe, Asia, Africa and Latin America.
